Latin Classes at St. Irenaeus

July 12, 2026

Salvēte omnēs!

Have you ever wanted to read a papal encyclical in the original? Or fully enjoy the great literary monuments of the western Church, like St. Augustine’s Confessions or Prudentius’ Psychomachia? Or maybe you just want to hide your barbarian origins affect a genteel and cultivated air (as the saying goes, “A gentleman need not know Latin, but he should at least have forgotten it”) Well today is your day!

Starting tomorrow and through the summer (and beyond!), St. Irenaeus will be hosting an introductory Latin class for all interested parties (and any uninterested parties who happen to be within earshot). Our text will be A Primer of Ecclesiastical Latin by John F. Collins.

Tomorrow’s class, Monday July 13th, will be an information session, after which we shall enter into full swing on the 20th.

Class starts at 7:15 PM at the St. Irenaeus Center, 542 Blossom Rd. – look forward to seeing you there!
